What is the difference between a steel cone grinder and a stone grinder?
A steel cone grinder can be used to process not only dry grain but also small amounts of oily seeds. This can be used to make spice mixtures, for example. It is not possible to process oilseeds with a stone grinder. However, various types of grain can be processed into particularly fine and fluffy flour. Which grinder is best for you depends on what you want to process with it.
Grain mill with steel cone grinder:
Which foods can I grind with the steel cone grinder?
Grains: wheat, spelt, green spelt, rye, barley, buckwheat, millet, rice, oats. All dried spices, herbs and mushrooms. Oilseeds: linseed, sesame, soy.
What do I need to consider when grinding oilseeds?
Never grind oilseeds on the finest setting, otherwise the grinder could become clogged. After grinding oil-containing seeds, we recommend grinding dry grains.
How do I adjust the grinding level?
The grinding level is always set during the grinding process using the setting unit 7. You start with the setting on coarse and then set the grinding level back to “coarse” after use.
- Finer: counterclockwise and ONLY during grinding
- Rougher: turn clockwise, also works when stationary
How can I clean the grain mill?
Remove the grain mill attachment from the drive unit and remove the filling funnel. Unscrew the locking ring anti-clockwise. You can now remove the adjustment unit, the steel cone grinder and the screw conveyor. Clean the grinder and the adjustment unit with a brush and a paintbrush. The plastic parts, except for the adjustment unit, can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher. After it has dried completely, reassemble the grain mill in reverse order.
Grain mill with stone grinder:
Which foods can I grind with the stone grinder?
Dry, hull-free grains such as buckwheat, spelt, emmer (two-grain), barley, green spelt, oats, millet, rice, rye, wheat, etc.
Attention: The stone grinder cannot be used to grind ANY oil-containing seeds! Grinding corn, spices, poppy seeds and linseed will destroy the grinder.
What do I need to consider when grinding?
Only run the grain mill attachment for a short time without any ground material in it. Longer idle times lead to increased wear. Do not use damp grain as this will clog the grinder.
How do I adjust the grinding level?
You can set the desired grinding level using the scale button when the attachment is empty. Setting a fine grinding level should only be done in small steps and by switching the drive on briefly several times.
- Finer: clockwise and only with repeated, short switching
- Coarser: counterclockwise, also possible when stationary
How can I clean the grain mill?
Remove the grain mill attachment from the drive unit and remove the filling funnel. Hold the grinding cone and turn the scale knob anti-clockwise until the scale knob with the grinding cone can be pulled off the hexagon shaft. Only clean the plastic parts with lukewarm water and detergent (not dishwasher safe!). You can clean the grinder inside and out with a dry, hard brush or a brush.
How often should I clean the attachment?
The grinder does not need to be cleaned after every use. If used as intended, it will clean itself through the grinding process. After some time or if the grinder has not been used for a long time, it is advisable to clean it thoroughly.
